Herricks High School is currently under construction as well with a new 3,700 square foot athletic fitness center addition and approximately 200 square feet of interior upgrades. This project began November of 2020 and should also be completed by January 2022. The building sits on a hilltop which RENU widened to accommodate not only the addition but also a Fire Access roadway for emergency vehicle use. With blue accents on all athletic room exterior windows and door frames, the existing building’s brick exterior now matches the new gray brickwork. The gray corrugated metal siding panel offers an industrial look. Milburn Flooring installed Terrazzo and VCT flooring and rubber performance flooring in the athletic room.
RENU has been busy in Mamaroneck school district having worked in 3 buildings this year. They started on a project in June to connect two existing structures at an elementary school with a 7,380 square foot 3 story addition comprised of ADA classrooms, adjoining hallways, elevators, and custodial space. The entire building will be wheelchair accessible. One of the existing structures contains an all-purpose recreation room where Milburn Flooring will install new flooring. During this renovation, remanence of Hurricane Ida hit New York and the surrounding areas particularly devastating areas of Mamaroneck with disastrous flooding. The cafeteria, classrooms, and gymnasiums suffered up to 10 feet of water damage requiring RENU’s emergency service division to act immediately providing abatement, demolition, and reconstruction to the affected areas. Despite the unforeseen damage in other areas of the building, RENU is expected to complete the addition by January 2022.
East Meadow Library is growing! The entire renovation consists of approximately 40,000 square feet of existing space and about 5,300 square feet of new construction and additions, including a community room and lobby vestibule area. Library operations have been closed since July 2019 and due to the hard work of RENU’s staff members, this job has faced limited setbacks from the virus allowing this building’s scheduled completion to be February 2021.Visitors will experience a whole new interior design with ceramic and porcelain flooring, wall tiling, carpet tile, and resilient floor finishes all installed by Milburn Flooring. Natural lighting will fill the space with beautiful skylights. Acoustical ceilings, trim, and finishing will be visually appealing while the inner workings like plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting will be new. The new construction includes a 250-tiered-seating lecture hall added to the east side of the building. The exterior finishes to the addition showcase brick veneer, precast, California Stucco, and new windows while the existing building consists of new storefront systems, windows, and automatic doors. The exterior redevelopment includes a new parking lot, concrete sidewalks, concrete curbs, finish landscaping, an outdoor reading garden, an entry plaza, and more.
Lindenhurst Memorial Library's 15-month project was management by Park East Construction with general contracting provided by RENU. The scope of work included a state of the art, two story, 3,000 sq. ft. extension for the young adult section. A new entryway rotunda was built, reminiscent of one of the many lighthouses around Long Island and a new kid-friendly courtyard, complete with stylized rubberized surface. The entire rest of the library was upgraded with energy efficient curtainwalls, glazing, lighting, HVAC, and Wi-Fi building management systems. A plethora of ADA-compliant upgrades were, perhaps, the most needed enhancements to this old public building. The renovation consisted of complete overhauls to all seven bathrooms, widening of the elevator by 2 ft in both directions, and adding ramps where necessary both inside and out to give unhindered access to all locations and services to those with special needs.
Ceiling Installation
RENU has 3 CertainTeed ceiling tile styles that is a part of RENU Quick Ship program and are stocked in the warehouse. Symphony, Fine Fissured, and Sand Micro Customline.
RENU and Milburn worked at Connetquot - Oakdale Bohemia and Ronkonkoma Middle School auditorium with architect John Grillo. Both auditoriums were gutted back in February 2021 and completed by the end of the summer. RENU installed RTU units and provided carpentry, electrical work, seating, stage extension, acoustic panels, fire alarms, and a high-end A/V system. Milburn Flooring installed the carpet, wood stage and epoxy floors. Both auditoriums were functional in time for the 2021 school year.
